Default idle issue

Hi guys, new here, my 2001 volvo has idle issues. I tried the cigar vacuum hose check. And noticed smoke coming from the first picture. Not sure how I can replace that hose or what it's called.

The IAC in this second picture isn't connected to anything at the top. Is that the way it should be? Thanks

First picture is the brake booster hose. Where is it leaking at exactly, as that is a $100 plus hose assembly....
Second pic is of a bolt hole....

Well, there's no "leak" per say,, but when I smoked through the vacuum hoses, smoke came out of there, is that an issue, that would cause my rough idle? Thanks for your reply

A vacuum leak would cause rough idle yes. If thats the issue or not though, we cant really tell over the internet. Where did the smoke come out? at the fitting itself? If so, its a push to release fitting so its easy to remove and see whats going on. Push the outer ring down, pull the hose out.
Any codes on a reader?

The scan code gave me a bad, a possible dirty MAF, I cleaned it, and no luck. I ordered a part, it's in the mail. The smoke is coming from the fitting yes. I might as well change that too. My car, dies at Idle, I have already replaced the map sensor.

The hose is the spendy part. Not looked, but there should be an o ring of sorts inside the manifold part of the fitting. Could be as simple as that
What was the specific code?

Did you clear the codes, if so what are you getting now?
Those certainly point to the MAF and a vacuum leak though.
I check vacuum leaks in two ways.
Spray gently and methodically with brake cleaner, carb cleaner etc, and listen for the engine note to change.
Do the same, but watch the short term fuel trims on the readers live data. They will change rapidly if the spray is introduced into the fuel/air system.

Thanks for all your help Martin, the codes I get now, are P0172 and P107. I checked for vacuum leaks and the only thing I noticed was the small amount of smoke coming from the brake booster hose. I will check again in a few days.

Let me see if I can get the testing procedures for those codes and I'll post them up.

0172 is long term fuel trim too rich. It will disable the fuel trims in this state. It's basically saying that it's reached its limit and isnt playing anymore.
If it's compensating for a vacuum leak, it will throw fuel in there to attempt to balance it out.
I am getting 0107 as the boost sensor. You can check it isnt disconnected or going to ground etc.
The number 1 sensor is on top of the CAC near the hood latch.
Number 2 sensor is the MAP sensor basically.
These are by the book diagnostics though, and what you find is that with certain vehicles, the codes can mean something else in reality. Just a warning on that part.
