Default Interior cleaning extreme

My S40 was a bit dirty and rather stinky from miles of neglect but I have found that it is not that difficult to remove the seats and carpet to do some serious cleaning. I think I found about two dollars in change and three pens while removing the carpet. If you are interested in doing this project you will need to first remove all the seat bolts. Now remove the single bolt for the seat belt anchorfrom the side of the seat. My drivers seat is power so I didn't disconnect the battery till I was done unbolting all the bolts. Once the bolts are off disconnect the battery to keep the seat air bags from accidentally deploying. Unbolt theback seatbottomcushions by folding them forward and removing the four bolts. Pull those rear bottom cushions out and set aside. Tip the passenger seat back off of it's mounting bolts and disconnect the three wires connected to the bottom of the seat. Pull the passenger seat out of the car. Do the same for the drivers seat. There is also a strain relief that must be removed I was able to do it with a small screwdriver. Now pull all the plastic molding that is on thresholds of the the doors. Take off the trim that is under the dash that connects to the thresholds. Remove the pieces that are between the doors: you can do this by pulling the side that is hooked around the rubber molding on the back doors first. Take out the center console, radio, and shifter console. Remove the side carpeting that is screwed to the center console under the dash. Unscrew the two screws that hold the black air vent so that you can slide the front carpet off the vent. Remove the front passenger side and drivers side carpet back and out of the car. Now lift up the rear piece of carpet by first unhooking it at the back (two small pieces of metal protrude from the floor near the rear seat belt anchors). You will have to pull the carpet slight towards the back of the car to get it over these metal hooks. You should have everything removed by now. Start scrubbing with the power washer. Some pictures.

Awesome, thank you so much for this! Any chance you still have those photos??

My cabin is extremely humid and I have this ugly moldy smell that's driving me nuts. Turns out water had been leaked into my cabin from the sunroof drain. Dealer wanted to charge $500+ to remove the seats, carpet and water.
