Default K&N typhoon on 2005 S40 T5

Ive been thinking of putting one of the K&N typhoons air intake systems on my 2005 S40 T5 but read on ELEVATEs websites that an aftermarket air intake system can cause the electronic control module to not have proper cooling and could cause it to over heat and **** the bed and also they say it can cause oil build up on the mass air flow sensor which can cause it to make an inaccurate reading if you guys could tell me about your experience with the K&N typhoon air intake system whether good or bad that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

There were reports of the early Typhoon causing the computer to over heat. I believe that this has been resolved by relocating the computer.

In the stock configuration, the computer mounted in the air box and is cooled by intake air.

The oil deposits on the MAF sensor may occur if the filter is over oiled. I believe this addressed on the K&N web site. Follow the directions and you should be fine. Many folks use install and use the Typhoon with no problem. In fact, it has been years since I heard of anyone having a problem. I am thinking of getting one myself.

Had the K&N intake on my car for about 2 years and never had a problem. The excess of oil build up on the MAF is usually from when people clean and re-oil the filter and put too much oil on.

Since Injen came out with their intake for the S40/C30, I'd go that route. It has a dry filter so oil issues and it also has some better heat shielding then the K&N. ViVA sells the intake right now and there was talk about a group buy...
