Default Looking for a little pep

My '01 S40, 1.9t, has lost a little pick-up over the last 11 years. We're up to 167,000 miles, engine was tuned up last year. Not looking to race around town, just trying to stay in shape, and go with the flow!

You can test the TCV to make sure you are making the proper boost. IPD has a tester although it's probably not worth it just for one use. You could also make one yourself if you like DIY stuff.

s40 have a boost gauge? if not put one in. My s60 was making around 4psi max, so I knew something was not right. should be 7-8psi. I replaced the TCV with an OEM unit from FCP. I also coughed up the coin and put in 93 octane instead of the usual 91 i do. I saw 6psi yesterday. Also make sure your tires up to the proper psi.
I had to travel yesterday for work and the turboturd put a smile on my face in the left lane.

Would new fuel injectors be pricey? And what's a TCV? Thanks for the feedback guys!

You don't need new fuel injectors. You can have them cleaned for about $15 each if you remove them yourself. I wouldn't worry about it unless you develop a lean miss.

My mistake on the Turbo Control Valve. That is what it's called on the 2005+ cars. On the 2000-2004 it's the Boost Control Solenoid. (BCS) Boost Control Solenoid

Your engine can not be tuned up.

You might try an Auto-Rx treatment. This will decarbon the piston ring packs and restore lost compression.
