Looking at an S40 T5 today...need help
Hey guys,
So new user here. Been looking at used volvos for a while, and have finally decided on either an S40 or S60.
Today I'm going to look at a 2006 Volvo S40 T5 with 61,000 miles on it. Problem is....it's getting sold for $4,000 less than KBB value. Of course, I'll buy a carfax report on it, but what I really need is to know what to look for in case this guy has actually done something to it such as take out the engine and replaced it....or anything similar.
I'm going to make him take it to the dealership to get the 125-point check as well, but would like to be prepared for our first meet and test-drive today.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks - MDM

Selling for less then what it blue books at doesn't sound like much of a problem. Lol.
Do you have a link to the car that you're looking at? Be a lot easier to assess the car if we could see it. It's due for the 60K service that can be a little spendy from the dealer so that could be part of why it's lower then it's listed value. It may need new tires, or other general maintenance things to be done.
The pre-purchase inspection will tell you a lot of that info as far as needed maintenance. And defiantly get the carfax.
You'll get faster responses about the P1 S40's on Swedespeed.
