Low battery warning

Hi,
When I start the engine at my S40 Volvo the tension in the battery is low around 11-12 and after few seconds it jumps back to normal 14. I get the low battery warning, but the battery is OK, what is the problem?

try cleaning and tightening the posts. and check the cables for any signs of blistered insulation (corrosion = resistance = heat = blistered insulation...)

Alternator may be on the way out.

Yes, symptomatic of an alternator problem or the alternator clutch pulley beginning to fail. When mine failed I did not even get a battery warning light on the dashboard.
