Most affordable way to replace a 2001 S40 engine
First of all Hello to everyone from Sanford not far from Orlando. This is my first post but I've been reading this forum for over two years now. I may have posted under another name but can't remember it. Long story short after being a Porsche fan for years I now am addicted to Volvos. So far I've had a 85 240 SW, 96 850 SW, 96 960, 99 V70, and a totally modified 260 hp 94 850 Turbo with over $7000 in upgrades, which I am in the process of selling right now, If I still have it after the weekend it'll probably end up on Orlando Craigslist.
My issue today is that I've just bought a 2001 S40 with engine noise but my mechanic says that there is a hole in the block by number 4 cylinder and the engine is not repairable. Car has 87K, new Michelins and a nice stereo, so if I can put in a used engine for a total cost of $1200-1500 it pays for me to keep the car, if not I'll have to sell it as-is and or put it on ebay and if I can get $3000 I'll be happy..
What would you do? Any and all inputs will be appreciated.. Thanks..
