I have a 2001 Volvo S40
In the front above the radiator area there's a small hose that goes from the big one i think its the intake. and itll go into a copper tube that seems to go to the engine . heres a picture

It's pretty much cut off at the end where it goes over the copper tube, which is causing the rough idle on the car. I can't seem to find what its called and the guys at autozone arnt very helpfull at helping to i can buy a new one.
i would really really appreciate any help.

Hudini, thanks! Yes, went to the local auto parts store and of course no exact match like you're saying, so I did engineer it since I needed a quick fix. Simply got some skinny radiator hose (about 1 ft long) and two clamps. I had to put dishwashing liquid on one side to fit the hose over the metal nipple on the radiator side since that side is bigger. You can see this in the original pipe - it's flanged wider there. Anyway, was a bit of a pain to fit on but worked in the end.
Funny, because this was the cause of SEVERAL problems on my volvo 2001 s40. I didn't have the time or money to get it looked at, but it has been very hard to start in the cold - usually killing just after I start it and requiring me to give it gas to stay running until warmed up. It was also stalling intermitantly when I came to stops and it had a huge loss in power overall. Fixing this one hose made it run like it hasn't in months!
As far as I could tell from extensive research on this site and other forums, the pipe is the Vent Hose for the Idle Control Valve. Seems the ICV sucks in air through this hose that is coming back through the air flow system...pehaps it gives the ICV heat which helps w/ cold starts. I also imagine that with the pressure of my turbo system escaping through the cracked hose, that made my entire car run w/ less power and stall out.
Anyway, I had trouble finding solutions to these problems before, so hope this post can help others...
