Really? $180? Try our sponsor next time...fcpgroton.com They are a tiny bit cheaper...you could have replaced almost three regulators for that price...

Actually fcpgroton was my first choice as I have bought things from them in the past. That is a great price but too bad in doesn't fit my 2001 S40. I don't think fcpgroton has any for a 2001 S40.. at least they don't show up when I search for that model. The one in the picture I saw when I followed your link didn't look anything like what I need. Looked like one for a Porsche. I paid $139 for the one I got.

Yeah...looks like a bunk stock photo. Yours should look like the one on the bottom in this pic. Main thing is you got your window working!

A photo from my parts catalog..

Did you get it installed yet?
The Magneti Marelli ones really do not fit right. I have tried about 10 of them on different S40's and everyone was junk. The windows would not seal right or were crooked.
I hope you have good luck with it.

I haven't had time to try and install it yet. It has been raining the past two days so I didn't want to attempt it. I sure hope it fits correctly or I will be pissed after paying $140. Thanks everyone.. I'll keep you updated. It's too bad the stock regulators are junk. I've never had a problem with any of my other cars.

Audi went to a regulator back in the late 70's that had cables...it too was crap. Sometimes I'd really like to be sitting at the table when these engineers present their new and better mouse traps! The old scissors style regulators never failed as quickly...
Good luck!

Well the stock regulators are made the way they are because of laws.
Just like the garage door openers that have to have sensors.
The regulator is designed to break if it gets closed hard on something. This way if a kids arm or your arm gets closed in it it will break instead of cutting it off. Or causing alot of damage to you. I think they should have done something like when it sees excessive power draw it should just reverse instead of breaking.

Yes it sucks it has to be this way but just like on a lawn mower that has a sticker with a hand by the blade and it is crossed out. They designed it because something happened.

Ok, I got the regulator installed yesterday. I looks just like the picture posted above. You use the nuts as seen in the photo to attache the motor to the inside of the door instead of the bolts that came OEM. I also had to cut the connector off the car and connect their connector in it's place. Good think I had wire nuts on hand. But it functions perfectly and hopefully will last a loooonnng time. The motor is slightly louder than OEM but not bad at all.

I also had to install a news lens on the headlight... what a pain. Had to loosen the bumper to pull it slightly away from the car. Had to jack it up and remove the wheel on the side I was replacing. PITA just to swap a lens... but if I had to do it again it would be easier because the instructions are not that great but now that I know...
