Window Regulator : 1991 Volvo 740 Turbo
Electric driver's door window does not work at all anymore. It started to fail over a day or so. Symptoms of failure : could go down, but wouldnt go up. Then could go down some more, but would never go up any amount. So now down permanently.
All other windows function perfectly using the driver's door windows control switches. I am leaning towards a dead window motor.
After taking off door panels and feeling and looking at the whole mechanism, the window motor seems to be permanently attached to the regulator with rivets or welding. Unlike pictures of other model year's window mechanism I found via Google, I dont see any mounting bolts that simply attach the motor to the regulator ?

Because each window switch has its own individual plastic "protrusion key" at bottom, each switch will only fit one spot on the window control panel. I guess its designed to prevent you from accidentally putting wrong switch in wrong spot, but its a pita for troubleshooting since you cannot use another switch to to test if the driver's plastic window click switch is bad.

RE: Window Regulator : 1991 Volvo 740 Turbo
I moved window up and inch or so by hand. Pressing switch moved it down the full inch, and it could even take window up a tiny bit, 1/4" or so.
I think that might verify that I have power to the window motor. As it is so difficult to clearly see where wires attach to it, I doubt I can use a VoltMeter to test for current. Motor seems to be mounted to regulator by 3 nuts and bolts, but no way to easily get a wrench or socket in there.
I also notice that when I press the window switch to move window up, I sometimes hear a slight thump/thunk sound. Maybe a weak motor as it doesnt seem completely dead ?

Yes 12V DC.
Follow the wires back from the motor and Probe them. You will have power at one wire going up and power at the other wire going down.
The wires swap Power and ground depending on which way the motor is going.
Could very well be a bad motor by your last comments.
