I have searched the forum concerning changing the battery. The most common tidbit I've seen is make sure I have my stereo anti-theft code before I disconnect the battery so I can reenable the stereo when I'm done.

I am also concerned about all the smart sensors embedded throughout the car's engine. I have been able to change the MAP sensor and the cooling system's Temp sensor. Neither of these required the dealership to install software (to teach the car about the new sensor) but I have been told the emission sensors are a different animal. If I change the battery, will the car's computer become stupid and forget everything it has learned about all of these sensors?

 

Mine did not need anything. I've disconnected it several times (replaced once) and it ran like a champ.

 

No problem with the computers in your auto..............your 'memory' will not be erased. You can purchase a nine volt battery that plugs into the 'lighter outlet' of your auto at any auto supply store. This will keep the memory in your radio so that you will not have to reenter the code.
