Default new volvo owner of 08 s40 needs parts and accurate part number sourcing advice

toyotas have a site where you put in your vin number and get all the parts number specific to your exact equipt vehicle

is there anything like that for our volvos? in my short time looking around there seems to be very limited parts info on the usual online websites you find auto parts at.

where can i go to shop for genuine oem parts and get exact accurate parts numbers so i know what parts to shop around for?

There are a ton of places to buy Volvo parts.

Tasca Ford/Volvo is a dealer but has low prices. https://www.tascaparts.com/
IPD is a great site: https://www.ipdusa.com/
FCP Euro is another: https://www.fcpeuro.com/
MySwedishParts: https://www.myswedishparts.com/

thank you for your help

do you know if there is any place i can put in my vin number and look up my own art numbers to see the correct oem part numbers for everything on my car?

toyota has this site ToyoDIY.com

i got spoiled by it because you always get the exact correct part numbers for your specific vehicle and year without any guessing or relying on some parts guy to get a part number for you

IIRC all the various sites still rely on the Year/Make/Model menu selection. I think maybe IPD has you enter the VIN on checkout to make sure what you are buying is correct.

I have also seen where sites have parts listed up to certain chassis numbers and then another part for all later chassis numbers. The chassis number is part of the VIN but it's not as sophisticated as your previous experience.

Tasca is a Volvo dealer so I would trust them for OEM parts.

thanks, im just too far from the nearest dealer to "pop in" any time i need a part number

some of those guys know so little i swear they were working at mcdonalds for their last job

i didnt realize how limited the dealers were around here before i bought one or i might have chosen a different car to buy.

the volvo dealers here also only open M-F till 7pm while all other dealers stay open until 10pm, then they are closed after lunch time on saturdays and closed on sunday !!!!! i never heard of a car dealership that is closed on weekends when that is the main time most people have to shop for cars and/or are looking for parts to fix them. it sounds contrary to being a smart business idea to have such hours.

were i have the most concerns is obvious wrong info. tasca seems the best of what i have seen but as an example, here is what tasca says is my rear sway bar and end links https://www.tascaparts.com/auto-part...omponents-scat
but none of that fits my car, mine has horizontal ends and the links are simple straight tubes with bushings so all of that is completely wrong for my car while saying those "are" the parts for my car. maybe its a case of a redesign or something but to use that i would have to replace everything to get it to match what they say i should have.

I've always found FCP quite helpful whether using their web site or giving them a call. Not sure of your issue - do you have a 2.4i or Turbo? Where are you located? I looked at a different dealer site for 2007/8/9 and the end link part number is the same for all. What do the standard VIN decoders say about your build year?

its the 2.4i not the t5

this is what my rear sway bar end links look like https://www.ebay.com/itm/SET-of-2-Suspension-Stabilizer-Bar-Links-for-Volvo/253167291360?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid =p2057872.m2749.l2649

i was able to stumble across them by just doing a blind ebay search and they show as fitting my car but i still have no idea what the oem part number is for them.

maybe this is the ONLY part that there is an identification issue with but it scares me that the very first part i try to look up for my car and every website i go to tells me to use the wrong part that doesnt fit my car

where are these vin decoders?

VIN IS - YV1MS382082383998

If you need specific parts looked up, I have an ALLDATA account and I can look up specific parts, I can also send blown up shots of parts and whatnot.

thank you, can you please give me the part number for the rear sway bar end links, the vin is in the post right above yours

i just dont trust those parts counter guys, i have often had them mess up getting the right parts over the years so i prefer to see where the parts numbers are coming from rather then generic parts lists
