Default OBDII Error Code: P1618

I found on a nifty website (http://www.iequus.com/support/obd2_definitions.php) that this code means "Fault in Lead Between AW 50-52 and Motronic 4.3 (MIL Requested)". Can anyone translate that for me? Is this something I can fix, is it not a big deal, is it an emergency to get it checked...??? I'm hoping to do the work myself to fix whatever it is, if I can do it there's no sense in taking it to a mechanic...

So guys, any ideas on what "P1618-Fault in Lead Between AW 50-52 and Motronic 4.3 (MIL Requested)" means?

I appreciate it,
Jeff

Default RE: OBDII Error Code: P1618

It would have been easier with the year of the carbut this is what I have turned up:

P1618 is a code set in the Engine Control Module (ECM) to indicate that a trouble code has been set in another control module, in this casethe Transmission Control Module (TCM). MIL means Malfunction Indicator Lamp. The TCM cannot set the MIL so requests theECM to do it.

You now need to have the trouble codes read for the TCM to find out what the problem is.

Aren't modern cars wonderful?
