Default Off/On Warm Air & Flaky Radio

My gf has a 2005 s40. On the way home from the car wash with an oil change done as well (not my choice), we notice the air blowing warm. We get home turn car off for 2 mins, turn car on, air is cold. Car running I turn just the air off, look under hood, turn air on...warm this time. Been hit or miss past two or three weeks. During driving it changes betwen Cold/Warm. Going to bring it into the dealership to get looked at but was hoping for suggestions of what to have them look at first. The fan in the very front turns on, and when I hear compressor kick on, air's cold. If not on, warm.

Probably for the past 6 months the radio won't turn on when the car starts up I'd say once or twice a month. Only way to get it on is to shut the car off then back on. Haven't had it shut off while driving.

Just wondering if related (electrical) or two seperate issues.

Thank you for your time.

Not sure about the radio. The A/C might be low on R134a. Do you know how to check the receiver/dryer window? Somewhere near the front condensor (I have a 2001 so mine is different than yours) you will see a small canister with 2 small hard lines connected. It will also have a tiny round window on top. When you clean it off and shine a light into it with the A/C on, you should not see any bubbles. If you see anything like white foam or larger sized bubbles, then it's low on R134a. Might just need a top off. You can actually do this yourself with one of those pre-packaged cans with gauge that shows when the car is full. The local auto parts will sell them as it is not illegal to fill your own car with R134a. It is illegal to vent it to the atmosphere.

Thank you, I know where that is located on my car and will look for it on the Volvo Friday when I get home from work 5pm EST. Will post results that night.
