Default Oil Leak From Timing Belt Area

2006 V50 t5 awd 110005miles

I've noticed a small amount of oil along the lower end of the timing belt near the ac condenser and the alternator. it wasnt an alarming amount of oil but enough that it dribbled down the side and a few drops landed on the plastic undercarriage shield. I wiped is up and cleaned of the belt with a little brake cleaner. i havent noticed any more droplets of oil making their way down the side of the engine since i last checked a couple of days ago.

I'm not sure if this is a major concern or not. I figured the worst it could be is a leaking cam seal. since im planing on having the timing belt, idler, pulley and water pump all replaced at 120k anyway i was wonder if i should just ride it out till then

It is likely ok for the short term but will tend to degrade the T belt. You could have the belt and other work done a little early especially since the belt has been exposed to oil and brake cleaner.

So i took it in because i had picked up a roofing screw in my good zr Michelin tires and the mechanic i had patch the tire said that oil leak wasnt getting any better. so i took my v50 down to my local import mechanic that diagnosed it as a leaking cam seal. unfortunately he said that he didnt have the tools to fix it because even he doesnt get a whole lot of volvos in his shop. so i found a volvo specialist in tulsa who said he could fix it and do the timing belt, idler, pulley and the seals for so much less than the dealership quoted me for just the seals. dealership quoted around 1100 just for seals. this private mechanic said a littl over 800 for everything.

On the 200/V40 during change of TB[at 95k]...noticed an oil leak near TB cover area approaching the belt. Checked the area behind the gear/pulley near seal...couldnot confirm the leak there[ so see if you can confirm that for ure design...though while changing Tbelt the seals are not a whole lot extra work].
While changing the PCV jazz, noticed that a small 3/4 dia hose[formed like an elbow]coming from the black pstc cannister..to the top valve cover area...wasnot very well sealed around its od.
Seems that can be the possible culprit...and for S40/V40, this leak travels to the TB area, wets the seam where black palstic TB cover meets the the top cover.
One can almost suspect like a spill from the oil-filler cap to ve travelled there...but its not...in my case.
