P0015

My 2004 S40 is barely starting. The only code that came up was a P0015. How does the cam sensor affect starting? also I've been getting a rough idle occasionally

Timing would appear to be over retarded according to the code.
Remove the timing belt cover and check your cam and crankshaft pulley timing marks for correct positioning with No.1 cylinder at TDC.

The CVVT gear can fail internally too. Also look for oil on the timing belt when you look under the cover.

The Camshaft Solenoid Actuator could be faulty or can become clogged with oil resulting in the timing becoming retarded.
