Picture of the parts between bumper and radiator
Hi everyone
i have a S40 T4 2002 - since new. i have just had the front bumper replaced due to hitting a large stray dog at high speed.
Damage was: The central lower part of the bumper was damaged, the radiator got pushed 2 inches on the one side at the bottom, the under engine cover was destroyed as was the lower air intake.
When i went to inspect the completed work, i noticed that the piece of plastic which forms the floor of the lower level air intake is composed of a flat piece of plastic that fits into slots in the bumper BUT DOES NOT HAVE ANY SUPPORT IN THE REAR and in fact does not even reach the radiator...so it kind of flaps around.
The plastic floor also seems to be molded to a short piece of column - also hanging in midspace.
This definitely does not seem to be the way volvo would have designed it nor do i recall it being like that.
Does anyone have a picture of what it SHOULD look like? Or a exploded view of how the various pieces fit?
thanks in advance

Here's a couple of images showing all the under engine parts, bumper assembly inner fenders - 2002 S40. I just did a front end (hood, bumper cover, lighting, undercarriage plastic, etc.).
Mine went to the body shop where they disassembled everything - and threw it all in the trunk when the insurance company totaled the car.
The offer was 5K and we keep the car (to crush or sell overseas I guess) or $4200 and you can have the car back. I took door #2.
$100 for a hood (with a bonus high end grill) from the JY, maybe another $150 in lighting assemblies from Rockauto, $300 to paint the hood. Think I got out of it for less than $700 - and some sweat equity.
Anyway those plastic parts in some cases actually support each other. And they all are supported by those plastic screw plugs. Try it using the image below, if it doesn't help I'll crawl under and take some pictures.
