Power steering pump constantly on - even after ignition turned off.
Hi. I'm new to the forum, so here goes with my first post! In all the rain we've had in the UK water has found it's way into the connectors (& who knows where else) of the power steering pump on my 2005 2.0D S40. After one 50 mile motorway trip the car was left for 24 hours and on restarting there was no power steering. My mechanic traced the fault to water in the pump connectors and drained and dried out what he could find but although the pump works fine, it won't switch off after the ignition is turned off and the key removed. Is there a switch in the pump unit which may have been damaged by the water? If so is the solution a new or salvaged pump?

Even if it was belt driven, what would low fluid have to do with it?
The module for the pump may have been damaged. If so, the pump needs to be replaced.
