PROBLEM STARTING 01 S40
Hey everyone.. how are you all doing? I have a Volvo S40 that I purchased a few months ago. Last night when I left work and tried to start my car it would not turn over. In order for me to get the car running I had to turn and hold key and step on the gas pedal. I also had to keep the car rev'ed up to about 2000 or 3000 rpms for about 40 or 60 seconds.. otherwise the car would cut back off. The car is fine after that first cold start because I made a few stops on my way home and the car started right up. I have also noticed that my gas pedal seems to be a bit stiff. My husband is out of town and I don't dare mess with the Volvo Dealer without him. I an thinking this could be a hose loose and or broken clamp or maybe even the throttle body. If someone can give me some idea as to what this problem could be.
Thanks
Shelly

RE: PROBLEM STARTING 01 S40
Hi Shelly, I am Tia.
I have a 2001 S40 and I had somewhat the same problem. All of a sudden, my car would not start and I was glad I was not to far from home.
I had to leave my foot on the gas pedal, if I let it off, my car would turn off. I hate to say this but I forgot the term but it was something to do
with the fuel was not reaching the motor, they had to replace it. I wrote about in this same forum about 3 wks ago. The title was I messed up.
