Hi,
I am not sure how to proceed from where I am now

My daughter's 01 S40 140k seems to have a little lower than normal power steering fluid level. I almost went and ordered the supposedly correct fluid from FCP. Then I stopped and realized that fluid inside the container does not look or smell anything like the CHF 202 whatever they said is right for the car.
So what I am suppose to do now?
I don't want to add any fluid that is wrong for the car or incompatible to the fluid that is there now, but I do want to add a little fluid.
I suspect that if I bring it to the shop to "flush" it, they may/or may not mess up the system. Then the blame is on me.
I don't have the manual(can't find it), but I believe it says - Power steering - add approved transmission fluid. I think I have Dex III in there, I doubt it the "right" fluid. The fluid in the container looks and smells like a regular PS fluid you'd buy at Walmart or any auto parts store.

Any ideas?

Dex III is what you use, or power steering fluid. The only difference is that power steering fluid has some seal conditioners, and is thicker, which you may notice as "heavier" steering
