questions about my 2001 s40
Okay I just purchased a used, but good condition s40 volvo and I noticed that my passenger wiper on my head light is vertical and will not move like the other one. What could be the problem and what needs to be replaced. I think I got a good deal on this car for 4,300.00 with 165,900. It drives good but it does have a small shake in the front while driving over 65 but then goes way at 75 mph. What could be that problem.
I am really excited with getting this car but I am also scared due to all the complaints with this car. The owner obviously kept it in good working condition and kept the oil changes like clock work. This is anything that I should replace since I just purchased it? My mechanic suggested timing belt etc... Can you give me some advice please. Was this a bad deal or what?
Thanks,
Bridgette

If you don't know when the last tune-up was done sounds like you may need new spark plugs. A miss-fire will cause the car to shake a lot up front. At your mileage a new timing belt is a good idea also.
The wiper has a function when if its stuck it will be shut off.At the next start-up it will try to go back to base but if its too tight it can not it will be stuck again until the next start.Have a friend at the front and he should help the wiper move when you turn the ignition and it start to move.If he misses it then you have to close up the car put the alarm on then off and turn the key to P2.
As for the vibration you are experiencing it could be caused by a couple of things.First unbalanced wheels comes to mind but the improper toe settings or worn axle also could cause this issue. The axle mostly causing vibration when the engine load is higher IE: going uphill.I would go to a place and have the wheels ballanced and the wheel alignment checked.
Timing belt is due to change every 8 years or 100K miles so make sure it was done along with the water pump.
