Radio - active sound control
Hi everyone, my 2000 s40 radio has ASC (active sound control) where the volume should adjust while accelerating automatically. It says it is on, I tried turning the feature on and off but can't get it to actually work. I even pulled out the radio to see if there is a lose wire, but didn't find anything. Does anyone know how to get it to work? Perhaps there is another wire somewhere that could be lose? I have a feeling it's a technical glitch but you never know.
Thanks,
Craig

There is a setting where you can increase the effect of the ASC. You need to go into the advanced settings in the radio, the owners manual gives instructions on how to do this. You can increase the ASC to high and should notice more of a difference. While you are driving switch the ASC between on and off modes (using the ASC button), when off it should be quieter and then you know it is working. The off setting wouldhave the same volume level asif you were not moving. The system isdesigned to be subtle, you should notnotice that the radio is louder when you increase your speed. The point is for it to sound the sameas if you were sitting idle.
Hey, thanks for your help. I looked into advanced user mode...I don't think it exists on my radio...I think it's too old. I did the procedure that says to hold down the volume button to enter a menu but nothing happens. The manual doesn't say much about it either. I will keep messing with it, thanks again.

Mine is a 2001 and it has the advanced mode, i just assumed the 2000 model had the same, but i am not totally sure. I glanced over the 2000 model owners manual and didnt see the advanced user mode mentioned. Perhaps that wasnt added until 2000.
