i just recently replaced the battery of my 01 S40, I know that a code is necessary. I went through my manual to see if I can find the code and... the card that is suppose to have to code written on it is blank.

I've owned the car since new, and never had the need to use the code (1st battery replacement).

Anyway to get the code without going to the dealer?

No you have to go to the dealership.

In fact you should just be able to call them and they should give it to you. This is how I did it.

In any event you need to contact the dealership in some form to get the code.
