Ran over a tree, car bent???

Wife ran over a downed tree about 8" in dia at 30 mph. Hood won't shut or open correctly any more. She said the car shook pretty violently. There is no visible damage to the bumper or grill, there is no evidence of tire/wheel damage. The tree was somewhat rotten. When I got there the car when started would very violently shake making a loud noise before even moving. Since it was only a block away, I nursed it home. Half way there the noise stopped and has not returned. It does not pull in either direction, seems to drive fine, even on the freeway.
Has anyone else had an story like this and had it diagnosed? Looks like the cross-member that the hood latch connects to is slightly bent toward the radiator. Wondering if the shock towers bent inward. Does anyone have a measurement between them and what to measure to?
Is there anything else I should check or do before I continue to drive the car?
