Recommended maintenance for Volvo
Hey I'm new here, just purchased a 2006 2.4i with 155k and I'm wondering what maintenance I should be concerned with at this mileage. I'm unfamiliar with Volvos, so some advice on common issues, etc. would be very helpful
Thanks
Thanks
Make sure the timing belt, tensioner, and idler were changed on time.
11 year old car with over 150k miles? The 2 bigger issues would be the sunroof drains clog/leaking and the PCV system clogging. If you park outside under a tree you can expect the drains to slowly clog and then as water backs up, leak into the interior. But if it's not leaking normally you don't do anything until it does. The PCV system clogging will show as the dipstick tube making a whistling sound. This was actually covered at one time under an extended warranty. Probably not anymore.
A smaller issue is your A/C suddenly going warm for a few minutes before returning to cold then repeating. This will happen on the warmest day of the year when you notice it. It's the compressor needing to have a shim removed from the clutch. It's a very simple and easy process to fix with the right tools.
Otherwise it's just parts wearing out and being replaced as needed. Change your oil with good quality synthetic and a good filter when the "Service" light illuminates.
