Default Remote Lock / Alarm Problem

2002 S40

I seem to have a problem with my remote lock and my alarm. Don't know if they are related.

When I lock the car using the remote, the lights do not flash. And I don't see any alarm indicator. Also, after letting it sit locked for about 5 min i reached in the open window and opened the door and the alarm didn't go off. The alarm does sound when you use the panic button.

Iv heard the the contact at the hood lock can cause this problem.Basically its like the hood is open therefore the alarm doesnt engage.Check the microswitch maybe a good dose of wd-40 will solve your problems. Not sure tho as if the alarm should or shouldnt go off in case you open the door from inside.

I'll give it a try and let you know if it works.

Sadly, that did not work. I tried manually holding down the hood switch and that didn't work either.

You have to measure if the switch works or not using a multimeter.Holding it by fingers is not different then when you close the hood.WD-40 also has to get inside of the switch cleaning it outside will not do it.
