Default Replacement key costs

2001 S40. I got an estimate for a replacement key from the local dealer:

30857729 Key blank $115.22
9139877 Ignition Key Ap $52.92
Labor $60.00
Total w/tax $244.00

The second line item is the software (??) to program the key. What would I be paying for? Is the "software" unique to my vehicle? Or is the dealer having me buy the programming code, which he can use for other keys later?

Thanks,
-stephen

The software is downloaded to the car to program the key. That's actually a good price. Most dealers charge an hour labor.
