Default Replacing brake booster vacuum hose

Hello folks,

I'm currently trying to replace the brake booster switch and hose for a 2001 V40. Thought I'd post here as well.

The short story is that the vacuum check switch snapped in half, I bought a replacement part that comes with the switch and hoses going to the electric pump as well as the engine. The electric pump is simple enough, depress a little clip and the hose comes right off.

I'm not sure how to remove the end that goes into the crank case. The replacement part only has an inch long brass section but the old one will only pull for a tiny bit before it just wouldn't budge. Is there a hidden lock somewhere?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Push down on the red coloured sleeve while pulling up on the hose as I recall.

Thanks for your reply. I don't see a red sleeve... maybe it's just old and faded. I do see that the hose goes into some kind of a plastic washer/sleeve then at the crank case though, I assume that's what you refer to?

So just keep that pushed down with a pair of pliers while pulling on the hose?

Yep, that's the ticket. I recall that wiggling also helped. Plastic washer stays on the crank case and the metal sleeve stays attached to the hose end.

Thanks! That was easy! came right out. Got new switch and pump in about 1.5 hours, runs great now!
