s40, 80 mph, shut off

So I'm driving in to work this morning, and I think was after acceleration (don't remember), the car completely lost power (gas) and coasted. Electrical worked fine, but gas gauge, gas tank level, rpm level dropped. I pulled over for a minute, car started fine and I continued. This is a random thing that's happened once or twice before, but it's been a year or so. Thoughts?
My wife has a Mazda that did a similar thig recently, but going slow around a corner.
