Default S40 Heater Problem

Hi Everyone

Hope someone can help me,

I have a 1998 S40 phase 1 2.0 with a heater problem, My blower fan and A/C works perfectly however my heater does not work at all. When starting the car the recirculate and A/C lights will flash briefly then return to normal however the heater does not work at all.

Any Ideas as to what might be the problem?

I'd appreciate any help if possible.

THX

It may have some codes, but I have noticed that air in these systems can affect it as well. Try to crack the coolant cap and release some pockets, possibly while running.

OK so if your problem is caused by trapped air then cracking the coolant cap open will do nothing for you so abandon this idea.My question is if the coolant was replaced or was there any work done on the coolant system recently? If there was nothing opened then there is no air in there either.BTW there are release ports to let the air out if theres any trapped. It seems to me that you have some control issues should see someone experienced with this car..

You have do just this thing

Remove the ***** from the heater control; insert a small screwdriver at the rear edge under each ****.
Remove the heater control panel (insert two fingers into the opening and carefully pull out the control panel).
Remove the two upper mounting screws (torx) for the heater control panel.

  • Press the catches on the panel downwards from the inside using a screwdriver. Pull the panel forward slightly.
  • Press in the two retaining clips on the switch. Pull the switch out backwards.
  • Disconnect the connector.
Reinstall the components in reverse order.

Hi

The head gasket was recently replaced due to my waterpump packing up.

However the heater worked after the job was done for a while now there's no heat at all.

Will try some of the suggestions, Where would i find the release valves?
