Hi Guys , l just got this car recently Volvo S40 2008 and both of key fobs wont lock or unlock the doors … l am using the key manually to open the car but only driver seats door opens the other doors remain locked. l checked the battery on the fobs replaced them that didn’t work too tried to contact some of the local locksmiths for a help they all redirected me to the Volvo car dealer l called them and just for a check because the car is out of warranty will cost 230$ … did anyone had similar experience with locking system ?! Any help is appreciated Thanks

 

Yes the manual only opens the driver side , which normaly activates the alarm until you put the key into the ignition , if that does not hapen then its probably the receiver that has failed , agents only from what I know ,and costly , if you are ok with that and the car drives fine its up to you

yes its opens the drivers door manually l think my car does not have any alarm … l am using the key manually atm to open and close doors etc and l dont have any issue with starting the car etc … main key and spare key both not working just with the doors ….

 

Long shot but have you checked the voltage on the 'new batteries? should be at least 3.4 volts for a battery I one replaced a remote battery with a new one and it also did not work , the so called new battery was 2.9 v

 

did you manage to fix this issue, I have the same problem
