my car is making sound in the front suspension...
i have never changed any part of the suspension since driving it for the past year. i want to do a service, what is it that i have to replace? please list out all the major items
1.schocks
2.ball joints

 

Could be anything without being more specific... I recently did a whole front suspension rebuild to get rid of some clunks and vibration. Could be looking at:

• Strut mounts/spring seats
• Broken spring
• Tie rod ends
• Sway bar end links
• Ball joints

Those have been the major serviceable items on my 2000 S40. Also are you sure the sound is coming from the suspension? Mine had a "clicking" clunk that was related to the front axles as well.
