S40 T5 boost leak or bad MAF?
2007 S40 type R AWD T5
I was convinced that I had a boost leak, the car would surge a little when you get on it. All the sudden it started missing / CEL and running like crap. Its drivable unless you put any type of load on it, then it falls on its face. I only get random mis-fire codes and then a misfire per cyl such as p0300 then p030X. I used propane and couldn't find any leaks, So I removed the plastic pipe that leads to the turbo inlet hose, made a boost leak detector with gauge/ tire valve with a 2" pvc cap. I charged it to 15psi and it falls within a few seconds. I even had my wife pump air into it while I was under the car listening for air. Couldn't find a leak anywhere.... even used soapy water.
Eventually I changed the tire valve out for a hose with no valve in it and had a smoker come blow smoke in it. The smoke comes out of the plastic hose that leads from the MAF to the turbo inlet it looks like it has 2 other small lines that runs back to it... assuming diverter valve?
Is this normal or was I supposed to block off the throttle body as well?
If this is normal how do I test the MAF, which is the only other thing I could think that would cause this.
