S40 turbo: is it disable to disable it
I have toasted the engine in my friend's S40 turbo and have not been able to find an exact replacement engine. I really need help with information on replacing it with a regular non-turbo engine, I need to know if this will work. The mechanic says he can fit a the turbo(disabled) from the toasted turbo engine on the non turbo engine so that the turbo does not work but serves only to allow the exhaust fumes out.
Is this possible? what are the possible issues? Are there any serious problems to expect as a result of this?
Your answers will be appreciated, it will save me this present heart ache

If you toasted a turbo engine, shouldn't you replace it with the same thing????
There will also be tuning issues as the ECM is designed for the turbo engine. That will probably be the biggest hang up. It will probably be cheaper for you to just keep looking for the same engine that was in it to begin with.
Also here in NA, we never got a N/A S40, They all were the 1.9T's. So unless some one with experience in the euro market, you'll be hard pressed to get an answer here.
