Hey guys I have posted under another name before but I forgot my password. So this is a new profile.

I had owned a ‘88 240 and ‘89 740 turbo several year ago. I am somewhat mechanically inclined.

Looking to get another Volvo. The S40s are nice. I worked at a Volvo dealership for 6 months this year (Long story short I damaged a customer car that was not a Volvo) And I drove lot of s40s. I love the simple interior, size and handling, and they came in manual. Looking to get either that or a V50.

Any common issues I should know about at first glance? (I read sticky)

same platform as mazda 3/ euro focus are any parts interchangable?

I have 2 S40's , 2007 awd turbo and 2009 fwd and going to sell one. 2007 runs perfect at 140000 mi, my 2009 needs a rod bearing change at 122000 mi that I am doing now the cause was lack of proper oil change by prior owners.
Depending on where you are, generally there are plenty of S40's for sale.
