I miss my 2007 V50 T5 AWD
What can I say except I made a mistake. My 2007 was in 99% perfect condition, in the past year replaced a motor mount, had the PCV stuff replaced, it had 110,000 miles on it. What was I thinking. My wife was prodding me to get a newer to me car and hey who doesn't want a newer to me car.
I've had older subbie outbacks but this time I went for a 2015 OB Limited. First let me say this in big letters I HATE CVT TRANSMISSIONS. Never ever will I own another car with a CVT. I'll gladly give up the 2 MPG for a regular transmission. I've had multiple, multiple warranty issues and we nicknamed the car boomerang. Boomerang because it always wants to return to the dealers service bay. The car is a Certified car so at least things are being covered under warranty. The car only had 36,000 miles on it when we bought it. It is my personal conclusion that the newer Outbacks are not the bullet proof Outbacks of old.
The seats are not anywhere near as comfortable as the V50. On a recent 3,000 mile trip, due to the seat geometry, my right leg hurt so bad I thought I was going to go crazy. There is something under the seat that is hard on my bottom and is noted by others.
It is a timing chain. The upcoming timing belt maintenance on the V50 was the issue that got my wife prodding for anther car. Geez for what I paid for the Outback I could have gotten 10 timing belts and more.
I think I was momentarily insane to get rid of the V50. I really, really liked that car!
We don't have the S60 anymore or the V50. This is a memo from a sad previous Volvo owner.
