Default s40 will not start

hi new on here ive got a 2005 Volvo s40 2.0 turbo diesel when me and a friend were doing a service on car after changing fuel filter had to turn car over quite a few times to get it started after that it was ok then it started to have nothing when you try to start it not turn over then after a few attempts it would turn over and start but then it got to stage now where's it wont turn over so I brought a new starter motor today fitted it and still nothing checked the relays and fuses still nothing so can any one please help. some one said it could be the ignition barrel any help would be great thanks martin

No idea on the European diesel wiring for a starter, sorry.

need to start probing around with your VOM... Do you have an automatic or manual transmission? If the auto, it could be then PNP sensor - if the sensor suggests the car is in gear, you don't get voltage to the starter. Check relays and fuses? There may even be an inline fuse on the cable to the starter (not sure of your model).

Try poking around volvowiringdiagrams.com to see if they have pics for the oil burners.
