Default screw for S40 key?

I have a 2004.5 S40, and I've managed to lose the screw that holds the key together. Right now, I am just holding it together with tape! Does anyone know what type of screw I need to put it back together??

Thanks!!

Funny, I had the same exact problem. I unscrewed it and it fell on the floor and I couldn't find it. They don't sell that anywhere. I went to the dealer in the service center and one of the tech's were nice enough to give me one from one of the old remotes they had laying around. They had like 100's of old remotes laying around. So I don't see any reason why your dealer won't do the same for you.

There is a remote repair kit available from the dealer. If I remember correctly, it includes a new screw.

havnt seen this particular remote to know, but usualy a screw from sunglasses works, if that is to small, try the standard short pointed tip screw from s child's toy (seriously)

hey guys, sorry to bump this but I found ANOTHER source for this.

First of all, someone (previous owner of my V50 - same key as S40) had butchered the key essentially stripped it, leaving a giant hole in the original screw. While it wasn't lost, it was definitely, excuse the bad pun, screwed up.

I used a T7 torx screwdriver, jammed it in there as hard as I could and replaced my dying battery as well. I got a replacement from an HP DV2000 (dv6000 dv9000 both have same screws) from under the battery. It was one of the screws under the battery. Same size, same tread pattern, same length, and it even had the same colour of anti-sieze on it.

So ya...check old laptops, they often use the same small screws.
