I recently had four new tires put on my 2000 S40. I had a terrible shudder from what seemed like the front of the car when I hit 53-55 MPH. The shudder disappears once I get to about 65 MPH but getting there with the shudder is hard. I took the car back and had an alignment done as this was needed. The shudder seemed to be much less but now is becoming noticeable again. It sounds like it comes from the left front side. The tires have been balanced and checked twice so far. The engine seems fine as I have no problems with acceleration or power. Anyone know what else I should check before I bring it back to the mechanic for a third time? Thx...

 

Try swapping the front and rear tires and see if it goes away.

If it does one of the tires are out of balance or out of round.

 

Thanks, I'll try that. Could this also be caused by engine mounts? Just trying to think of everything...

 

Maybe but I would look at the tires first.
