Default speedo dead, ABS light on help...

Driving home tonite I noticed the speedo on zero and the ABS light on. The brake light was also on but I think I have a dead float in the master cylinder. If I pull it up, the light goes off...

I just put new brake hoses and replaced the brake lines from the firewall to the rear calipers.

Is it my imagination or are the 2001s with 120k on a 5 week cycle where it work fine for 5, then something that's a pain breaks?

M

Default more info

Update: When I turn the car off and start up again, the speedo works and the ABS light is off. Then after a while, the speedo drops to zero and the ABS light comes back on simultaneously. Finally, last night as I was getting on the freeway, the motor quickly died, dashboard lit up then it continued on as if nothing had happened.

I'm beginning to hate these computer controlled cars!!! Any ideas?

I've read of charging issues causing these kinds of symptoms. Does the alternator light ever come on? What is the voltage at the battery both car running and not running?

The car charges just fine. I am afraid this problem is causing other problems.

THe ABS light comes on at the exact same time the spedo dies. It fixes itself occasionally and usually works when I first start the car. When the spedo is off, occasionally the car will die for a second adn all the dash lights come on then it has a check engine light 90507 idele air control system RPM higher than expected. If I keep driving, the check engine light goes off.

I have read elsewhere that its the ABS controller, solder reflow issue. Apparently there is a guy that rebuilds them.

Man these cars are a pain, but they sure drive well adn get great gass milage!

thanks for the help,

M

Had a similar thing happen to me. Chances are that it is the ABS Module, and you need that changed.

Anyone used any of the module rebuilders out there? Prices seem reasonable and they say they are guaranteed for life...
