I have a 2010 S40 2.0 Diesel, it has done around 65000 miles. It is in good order and has just had its 70000 mile service by Volvo Dealer. I have an intermittent problem where the engine turns on but with very low idle and no throttle response. diagnostic testing is not showing any codes and there are no errors on the dashboard. The issue tends to resolve itself after a number of attempts are made.

Sometimes it starts on the key first time with no issue, it drives well with no problem for a few weeks or months. Sometimes it will start and idle at 500 rpm but there is no throttle response at all. If i attempt to restart the car it will mostly fire up normally but on the odd occasion wont start properly and i run the battery down after 30 attempts. I call Volvo assist, they come and help me start it with no useful information to rectify the situation. I'm lost no idea what to do.

The problem first appeared when refueling and i assumed it was bad fuel. It seem always to be an issue when the fuel is low or I have refueled. I don't always fuel at the same place and when the car is running it runs without issue.

Any help or advise would be awesome.
