Default Sway bar links

We purchased a 2000 S40 a little more than a week ago. On our first long distance trip, we heard a noise when we travelled on a bumpy road. In route, we took it to a Volvo dealer and was told the noise was because we need to replace the sway bar links and related parts..... In addition, it appeared the rear and side motor mounts need to be replaced. Is this a dealer repair only? He said both jobs would be approx. 7.5 hrs of labor. I know the dealer cost to repair, but is this something that can be done at a shocks struts place? Our first Volvo.
