Default having trouble changing the sway bar links.

I'm trying to change the front sway bar links on my '01 S60 and I cannot get a socket around the top bolt that's attached to the strut due to space constraints. It's 18mm. I can get an open end wrench around it but there's not enough room to crank the wrench.

What are other peoples experience?

I always use a chrome deep socket on it.

So that's my problem. I only have an 18mm impact socket!

I'll run out tomorrow and pick up a chrome socket. Can I use an impact gun with it or do you recommend doing it by hand?

Thanks Tech!!

I always use an impact gun. If it spins and will not come free clamp vise grips on the inside section to hold it.

I was finally able to get them off thanks to your help Tech.

It drove me nuts for a little bit as the old ones used 19mm where the OEMs I bought were 18mm. Had to make a couple of trips to the store for new sockets. My set did not have 18 or 19mm

Once I got the new ones on and tightened up by hand I put the impact gun on and cranked them a little more. Should be good for another 6 months.

thanks again.
