Temperature Control on 2009 S40
I have a 2009 S40 with close to 15K miles, and it has treated me pretty well so far...
Over the last few warm days here in Massachusetts (90+ degrees), however, I've noticed that the A/C isn't blowing very hard even though I have the temperature control set to 66 degrees. The air coming out seems to be cool enough but it's just not blowing that hard. I'd think that the system would be blowing out harder to try to reach that temperature.
Is this something that others have seen in the 2004.5 and later models?

or is this about blower control???
Make sure it only blows out the center vents, not floor or defrost. Recirc button helps, other than that, dealer.
Is the last six of your VIN higher or lower than this???
461033

I can blast the fan no problem when I'm not in auto mode, and the air conditioner is cooling down the air just fine.
The last six of the VIN is lower than 461033.

Up to 2009 with that VIN, they have a problem with airflow coming out different places then set, you have it in auto, it goes where it wants to and controls the blower speed. If it did this not in auto, you may have a problem. If you want it cold, set it to LO, recirc ON, middle arrow.
ps
If you have a smell when first turning on the a/c, tell your dealer and they will treat it.

I think I figured out why the blower speed is lower...
I changed the auto fan speed under the climate control menu from High to Medium and forgot about it. Guess there is a base speed that the blower is at when the inside temperature isn't too much different from what it's set at.
Would have been nice to see this in the owner's manual...
