Think of buying 07 or 08 S40 2.4i
Hello everyone,
I am new here to the forum and have never owned a Volvo before. I am going to be replacing my 2000 VW Beetle diesel with something new maybe by this Summer or Fall. I *may* go back with another VW diesel product if they are not too proud of them and if diesel does not go wild on price. I would not own a VW gasoline product. I test drove a 2008 S40 2.4i and loved it. There are great deals on demonstrator models and it is within what I want to spend. I can get a good deal on a 2007 model that is left over, but what are the differences between them and the 2008 models? I want to learn more about these cars. I would be buying the automatic. I would be getting the normally aspirated engine as well. Basically the entry level model without so many bells and whistles. I liked the economy ratings being close to 30mpg on the highway. I heard that 32 was not impossible in these cars if driven right. I just want a nice driving safe and durable car. However, I would like to know the differences between these year models. welcome. i have an 07 S40 2.4i automatic, no frills (T-tec, no sunroof/spoiler) and LOVE it. If you do mostly highway driving, you can certainly get 30 mpg.
There are a few differences between the 2007 and 2008, mainly aesthetic. On the'08 there were very minor changes to the front and back end appearance. The Volvo emblem is enlarged on the 08 and the tail-lights look different. All of these exterior changes may be negligible to you. However on the interior there were some changes that caught my eye.
There's improved storage space in the door (map storage) and in between the seats. Also an added audio iPod input option (i think) that doesn't require the premium audio purchase. Also, new avail colors. I don't think there are new safety features on the '08, but i could be wrong....
Although i love my 07 I would have loved the interior improvements on the '08. To me it would be worth the extra money...
Then again you might get a steal on an 08 demo...
