Hi. I've had some issues with my 2001 s40 lately. It keeps stalling on me when I start it and I have to hit the gas to get the RPM's up and let it idle a little bit to warm up. Once I do that, the car runs fine. I'm getting the throttle body replaced and I'm hoping that doing so will correct the problem. My s40 has 148,000 miles and I hoping that it will run fine once I replace it. I just had the engine tuned up and an oil change.

I would appreciate it if anyone could help reassure me that replacing the throttle body should help. I'm not very good with cars and I want to make sure the problem will be corrected.

Check your idle air control valve hose that connects to the IAC valve from your charge cooler. Very common for these to get a hole in them and goof up your idle. It's a short - slightly 'S' shaped hose around 1" in diameter. It's a cheap part too!
