what does the throttle body look like on a 2001 S40 1.9T, where is it located within the engine compartment and can I clean it myself somewhat easily.

Follow the Big hose to the engine. You will have to remove the Black cover in the middle front of the engine.
One screw is a phillips and the other is a T-30. Then you should be able to access it easy.

You can clean it easily. I wouls suggest removing it and cleaning it. If you do make sure you buy a new gasket first.

Some would clean it on the car.
