Mine came with v-rated Continentals. The MXV4s are nice but since they are an OEM tire they cost about $130. The problem with this car is that the tires are small (compared to other vehicles in this class) so the availability of performance tires in this size are limited. If you want a V-rated all season high performance tire for this size the Kumho ECSTA ASX tires are a good buy (I think these are the ones Tech was refering to). I bought them for my 2001 S40 and have had no problems with them. You dont get the Michelin name (maybe if Michelin would give a better selection of performance tires in this size) but the tires do perform well in all types of conditions that i have experienced. They are very inexpensive also.

I dont know if everyone knows this or not so if you do dont get mad.
You should make sure that the rating on the tire suit what kind of driving you plan to do.
If you are looking for a good tire and better mileage and not so concerned about top speed then maybe an H or something might be better than a V.
If you just love to go fast then I would get a V or better.
If your car is still stock they want you to get V rated as the limiter is set to 240 kph.
If you dont plan on ever hitting top speed then you could even put on an S tire, as long as you plan to stay below 180 kph.
I run Falken 512's H rated and have been very pleased with them. They handle really well, even better in the wet. With my extra HP it eats them for breakfast though.
Glad I didnt get the V rated ones. I got around 40,000 with out rotating.
I hate Mxv4, they are crap is you as me, tread separtes to easily.
I hope this helps a bit.
