Tires for S40 T5
Hello
I just bought a 2010 Volvo S40 T5, whose tires are almost bald and need replacement ASAP. I narrowed it down to two models: Michelin Primacy 3 and Dunlop Sport Maxx TT. I know they're way two different models but those are the ones with best reviews I found. Which one would you choose and why? My daily route is bumper to bumper traffic (
) with the occasional road trip.
Other tires in my price range I've discarded: Falken FK452, Hankook Ventus V4, Kumho KU27, Goodyear EfficientGrip, Continental Contisport 2 and Nexen Nfera SU1
Thanks

can't say without knowing what your goals are (and tire size would help). Are you looking for summer performance tires, all season etc? quiet vs long life vs superior wet vs superior handling? Is price a consideration? Who's reviews are you looking at - Tire Rack or Consumer Reports or Car and Driver (each will have a slant) or an internet "ten best tires" list?

It would also help to know your location. It can be added in your profile. Knowing if you're in the south with mostly sunny weather, mid with a little snow and some freezing rain or north and heavy snow is also a consideration.

For all season, I have run Continental ExtremeContact DWS and Michelin A/S3 and A/S3+.
The Conti's did everything well, including snow. The Michelin A/S 3 were awesome in wet and dry and have a more refined feel. However, they sucked in snow. I am running A/S3+ now and love them. They are supposed to be much better in snow than the A/S3 but haven't had the opportunity to try.
My son had BF Goodrich Advantage Sports installed on his S40 and they seem to perform very well. I just had Continental SureContact RS installed on our Galant and they are far superior to the Goodyear Eagle RS-A that came with the car.

After many years of purchasing many many different brands of tire I have settled on Michelin for all my vehicles. They always ride smooth as there are no "seconds" sold to resellers like Costco or Sam's Club. It's 1st quality or Michelin destroys the tire at the factory. They are always top quality so I only have to pay for the tire once.
I was considering Michelin but then settled on Continental Sportcontact (225/45 R 17). I got a Nitro-filling f.o.c. and have done 35t km in 9 months, very satisfied.
