Exclamation Transmission advice

Hi guys,
I'm hoping you can help me!!
I drive a 2001 Volvo S40 1.9T and I'm experiencing the dreaded arrow.
When I was driving to work, the orange arrow appeared on my dash and randomly started to blink. I had to drive for a minute or two w/ the blinking, since there wasn't a safe spot on the shoulder to pull off on. Before I pulled into a parking lot, I had no issues w/ acceleration or continuing to go 80 mph during the blinking. The RPMs were completely normal and appropriate for the speed I was going. Even after I hit a few red lights, the car was fine w/ shifting and my car seemed completely normal. After I stopped the car, I restarted it and the blinking came back. I cycled through all the gears several times, and the transmission didn't sound weird or clunky. I checked the fluid level (which is fine) and color is clear red (not burnt or dark red). I had a flush done a year ago. My car has around 90K miles on it. I cycled through all the gears again an hour later when I was at work, and everything was fine. BUT...the arrow isn't going away!!!
Everything I've read so far doesn't seem to be indicating the PNP switch, but I'm no mechanic. Any advice?

You need a Volvo code reader and clearer like this one: http://www.ppc-diagnostic.com

It only costs a few dollars more than having the dealer read and clear your codes just once.

Once cleared, it the code doesn't pop again right away then it's fairly safe to assume you had some sort of intermittent computer error. If it does come back immediately, however, it's probably serious and you shouldn't drive the car.
